The Continuing Story of Buffy and Emma, Part Two
Oops, this is from a while ago. As always, for Renae. <3 #visual #buffyandemma #comic #personal

Vintage Nothingsville: Bond Blurbs
In its original incarnation, Nothingsville included short reviews of James Bond movies, in chronological order, up until Timothy Dalton stepped in and I lost interest (oops). A friend has requested access to them, so here's a compiled list: Dr. No 5/21/03 James jets off to Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of a fellow agent and comes up against a mad scientist-type, Dr. No. Best part: Dr. No himself. He's such a cutie, and his hands are crazy! Worst part: long scenes

A Moment in NYC
A couple of weeks ago, I had to be on the east coast for a wedding, and was lucky enough to have some hours to kill in New York City. It was a time when everyone I knew in town was working, so I decided to walk down the High Line and visit the new Whitney Museum. The High Line, an elevated park on an old railway track, has been expanded twice since I moved away, and now stretches from West 34th Street to Gansevoort St in the Meatpacking district, right at the Whitney. As al

2015 Emmy Fashion Wins
The Emmys were a week ago, and as always, the red carpet was covered in celebs wearing what seemed like great ideas the week before. Here are my favorite looks from the evening. Revenge's Kerry Washington is my pick for best dressed in her chainmail-like Marc Jacobs gown. It's shorter than most Emmy dresses, and transparent, but the sparkle of the embroidered fabric kept things PG. Washington would be able to pull off a burlap sack, but in this dress she is a glamorous Joa

The Continuing Story of Buffy and Emma, Part One
I spent most of my senior year history class doodling an awful comic book for my friend Renae, starring our favorite bad-ass TV females, Buffy Summers (the vampire slayer, duh) and Emma Peel (Diana Rigg of The Avengers, not as duh). Renae sent me the most lovely flowers for my recent birthday, so in return I'm reviving the comic book. Clearly I don't own the characters, but I did make them half-sisters, and related to a jedi, so... yeah. I'm not making any money on it, so
Old Favorite: "The Rules of Attraction"
Posting about this movie requires a disclaimer. It's based on a book by the same author who penned American Psycho, one of the most graphically f'ed up novels of all time. The movie opens with a horrible, horrible thing happening to one of the main characters, and then goes back in time to months before so we can see how this horrible, horrible thing came about. The first time I saw the movie, I couldn't get over the beginning. But when I gave it another shot, knowing wha
Halloween Spirit: "Shallow Grave"
Every year in October, I suddenly have a hankerin' to watch scary movies. The rest of the year I rarely watch them, but the chilly fall weather and Halloween hi-jinx really bring out whatever part of me enjoys being scared.
{I draw the line at haunted houses. They are just too damn much for me. When I was very young, my parents took me to one in which a Dracula type jumped out and I wailed and he followed us around apologizing and trying to explain that he was't a real va

"Dreamgirls" at Portland Center Stage
Today was a day of musical firsts- my first time at Portland Center Stage, my first time seeing "Dreamgirls," and my first trip to the theater since I moved to Portland over two years ago. It was such a grand experience that I felt the need to share! Portland Center Stage is housed in an historic Armory, making for a unique and beautiful lobby. Their staff was friendly and helpful, and even preemptively asked us to please not rest our drinks on the balcony edge, because I g
Current Musical Obsession: N.A.S.A.'s "The Spirit of Apollo"
I know, I know, I have only been posting about music but I guess that's what's been speaking to me of late... at least what's been getting me through the 10 hour work days where I'm pretty much sewing the same bag repeatedly. Well, that and my friends' podcast, which I will surely post about soon! N.A.S.A. (musically) is the brainchild of two musical producers, Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon, from LA and Brazil, respectively (standing for North America South America). Their m

Do You Remember the 21st of September?
One year ago, two of my best and funniest friends married each other, and a wonderful time was had by all. Congrats, Kevin and Jaimie! See you soon! photo by Tall and Small Photography #personal #visual
