Current Musical Obsession : Damon Albarn's "Everyday Robots"
The result is haunting, as I suppose an empty club would be, but the lyrics seems to imply that Albarn is commenting on our dependence on modern technology and the trend of over-development. We are everyday robots on our phones. If you're lonely, press play. I saw seven highrise buildings.
And it's all quite lovely. Though, the cheery "Mr. Tembo," about an elephant, doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the album, and is the one I tend to skip.
My favorite track is "You and Me," featuring Brian Eno, and was originally two songs "You" and "Me" that got pushed together because it just worked. Give it a listen and if you enjoy as much as I do, check out the album here on Spotify.
