The Continuing Story of Buffy and Emma, Part Two
Oops, this is from a while ago. As always, for Renae. <3 #visual #buffyandemma #comic #personal

A Moment in NYC
A couple of weeks ago, I had to be on the east coast for a wedding, and was lucky enough to have some hours to kill in New York City. It was a time when everyone I knew in town was working, so I decided to walk down the High Line and visit the new Whitney Museum. The High Line, an elevated park on an old railway track, has been expanded twice since I moved away, and now stretches from West 34th Street to Gansevoort St in the Meatpacking district, right at the Whitney. As al

What Happened to Barbie?
If you know me well, you probably aren't surprised that I was really into Barbies as a kid. I have often told people that Barbie and Ken are responsible for my love of fashion and pursuit of that as my career. Not too long ago, my best friends and I were group texting about the possibilities of trying to dress like our favorite Barbies (most of my favorites are included in the photo to the left- please note that pink one has GLOW IN THE DARK STARS all up on her dress). We

The Continuing Story of Buffy and Emma, Part One
I spent most of my senior year history class doodling an awful comic book for my friend Renae, starring our favorite bad-ass TV females, Buffy Summers (the vampire slayer, duh) and Emma Peel (Diana Rigg of The Avengers, not as duh). Renae sent me the most lovely flowers for my recent birthday, so in return I'm reviving the comic book. Clearly I don't own the characters, but I did make them half-sisters, and related to a jedi, so... yeah. I'm not making any money on it, so

Do You Remember the 21st of September?
One year ago, two of my best and funniest friends married each other, and a wonderful time was had by all. Congrats, Kevin and Jaimie! See you soon! photo by Tall and Small Photography #personal #visual

Bloody Book Club Selfie
As I mentioned a few months ago, I effing love my book club. Here's a screen capture selfie from our last meeting, where we discussed R.L. Stine's "The Burning." I'm meant to be Angelica, the (spoiler alert) evil debutante and messy blood drinker. I'm still on the fence as to what to dress as for our next meeting, as the book is sci-fi and seems to only involve purple space suits and froggy alien people, and I have neither of these things at hand. #visual #personal

Illustrated Selfies
My good friend Kristin has always impressed me by simply being herself. We studied fashion together, and her illustrations always seemed effortless and amazing. She's currently on a five-week hiking adventure in Austria, but I really wanted to share something she started in her few days before the hiking began, illustrated selfies of her traveling ensembles. Not only is she an impressive artist, she's an amazing dresser, so I really enjoy seeing those two skills combined. H

The Midnight Society Book Club
So, I guess I have a couple things to confess. First of all, as a middle schooler I was obsessed with teen horror novels. Secondly, I am currently obsessed with three awesome ladies who live across the country from me. There was only one way to make these facts work for me- to start a book club with said ladies in which we re-read dumb books and then discuss them via Google Hangout video chats. Thus, The Midnight Society was born. We just finished our second meeting, which

Mixed Blessings
Sometimes change comes when you aren't expecting it. Sometimes it comes when you are. Sometimes both happen at the same time and you get to start anew. I have moved into a new home (still in Portland, OR) and am looking for a new job. While the timing could have been better, these things are for the best. And, job searching means being asked if you have an online portfolio. I didn't, and in the midst of the move, I didn't have time to do anything fancy. So I threw toget
