Gone Coastal

My favorite thing about living in Portland is how close it is to so many amazing climates. Snow-capped volcanic mountains, high desert, the Columbia river gorge, and, not to be outdone, the Oregon coast. Without a car, I am at the mercy of friends to take me to these places, so when my amazing friend Lizzy asked if I wanted to take a day trip to the coast, my response was literally "Yesssssssssss."

The Oregon coast is not like the beaches I frequented on the east coast, they are often rocky and chilly, and the water is too cold for a swim unless you're fairly hardcore.

Yesterday's trip to Arcadia Beach was chilly and mostly overcast, but worth every second. I couldn't have asked for better company, and we found a lovely tide pool covered in starfish, anemones, mussels, and barnacles to wade around in. We poked our heads into mysterious tunnels and discussed mythical aquatic creatures that could be living there. I explained the plot of "Point Break" as best as I could. Lizzy took me to her favorite seafood market in Cannon Beach and we had fish and chips and she explained the #prombat to me. Totally educational.
